F.A.Q.
WHAT IS PERMANENT MAKEUP?
Permanent cosmetics or permanent makeup or micropigmentation, is the process of implanting cosmetic pigments into the dermis layer of the skin to improve one's appearance and save time compared to traditional makeup. The most common areas where permanent makeup is performed are on eyebrows, eye lines and lip lines.
HOW PERMANENT IS IT?
The eyebrows and eyeliner may last up to ten years, while lips may only last about three years. Skin type and after-care are determining factors in achieving lasting results. Clients need to follow all instructions carefully so that their makeup color can last several years. Touch-ups are recommended every few years as necessary.
HOW SAFE IS IT?
The art of tattooing and permanent makeup have been practiced for centuries. All the pigments that we sell are cosmetic grade, meaning that they are sterilized and purified for cosmetic use. Also, the ingredients are approved by the FDA for cosmetic use and meet EU guidelines.
ARE THERE RISKS?
As with any procedure where topical ointments or anesthetics are used, risks may occur if the patient is allergic to certain ingredients, such as lidocaine. Most clients however, would know if there have been any previous reactions before, such as during routine dental work. A client consultation and medical history form is obtained first, to discuss any known allergies or questions ahead of time.
IS THERE PAIN OR SWELLING?
Some clients may experience some swelling depending on their skin's sensitivity. However, most applicants look great immediately after their procedure! We have a state-of-the-art anti-pain protocol in which we use a highly effective analgesic ointment. We also offer BioGel, After Care, eye drops and other anti-inflammatory products.
DOES IT FADE?
Some fading will occur, which is normal. You are encouraged to schedule a touch up appointment between thirty and sixty days after your first session.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT FOLLOWING THE PROCEDURE AS FAR AS RECOVERY AND HEALING?
Right after the procedure, you must avoid steamy areas (such as spas or hot tubs) as well as contact with chlorine. Stay out of the sun for 30 days, and be sure to apply Aftercare Ointment 2-3 times per day while healing. Do not rub, pick, or apply additional cosmetics to the treated area until it is completely healed. The normal recovery time is 5 to 10 days.
CAN PERMANENT MAKEUP CAUSE INFECTIONS EASILY?
Infections usually occur in skin that has a tendency to break out easily, or in the treated skin of those who did not follow the after-care instructions. If you know your skin in sensitive or blisters easily, you must receive preparatory treatment well ahead of time. Start prescribed medication or preventative care a few days before the procedure. If an infection or outbreak occurs afterward, contact your doctor for a prescription or for information on available over-the-counter products. Immediately take care of any irritations or infections to promote faster healing, which will also protect color.
